Open 0-60 Acceleration Dataset

This is an open dataset of 559 real 0-60 mph runs timed by FastTrack users between 2026-04-21 and 2026-08-18. Unlike published 0-60 figures, which come from professional drivers on prepared surfaces, every number here was recorded by an owner driving their own car. We report best, median, and 90th-percentile times alongside the sample size for each group, so you can see the spread rather than a single headline figure.

Methodology

Every run was timed by the FastTrack app, which fuses GPS Doppler velocity with the phone's 100 Hz accelerometer through a Kalman-style estimator and then refines the result with a backward smoothing pass. Launch is detected from the accelerometer at roughly 30 ms rather than from GPS speed crossing zero. See how FastTrack measures accuracy for the full explanation.

Runs are excluded if they are marked invalid by the automatic sanity checker, flagged by an admin, deleted by their owner, set to private, or predate the 2026-04-21 validator rewrite. These are the same integrity gates the public leaderboards use, so a run hidden from the leaderboard never appears here.

Groups are published only above a minimum sample size — 5 runs for a model, 8 for a make — because a median drawn from two runs is noise. Times are aggregated per make/model, not per vehicle, so a single heavily-logged car can influence its group's median; sample sizes are shown so you can judge that yourself.

The dataset is aggregate-only by construction. It contains no usernames, user IDs, vehicle IDs, run IDs, locations, or timestamps — only grouped statistics.

Frequently asked questions

How is this dataset different from published 0-60 times?

Manufacturer and magazine 0-60 figures come from professional drivers on prepared surfaces in ideal conditions. Every number here was measured by an ordinary owner driving their own car, so the medians reflect what the car actually does in real conditions rather than what it can do at its best. That is why the median is often more than a second slower than the published figure, while the best column lands much closer to it.

How were these times measured?

Each run was timed by the FastTrack app on an iPhone or Android phone, fusing GPS Doppler velocity (sampled about once per second) with the phone's 100 Hz accelerometer through a Kalman-style estimator, then refined with a backward smoothing pass. Launch is detected from the accelerometer at roughly 30 ms rather than from GPS speed. Controlled comparisons put the result within about 0.02 s of a dedicated GPS meter.

Why do some cars show a median far slower than the best time?

Because these are real runs, not test sessions. A single owner may log a full-throttle pull, a half-throttle merge, and a cold-tire attempt on the same day. The best column shows the car's demonstrated potential; the median shows typical logged behavior. Both are reported so neither is mistaken for the other.

How often is it updated?

The dataset regenerates on every site deploy directly from the run database, so the figures here track the live leaderboard rather than a periodic snapshot.
