# FastTrack — Complete Reference

> FastTrack is a free GPS-based vehicle acceleration timer and car enthusiast platform available on iOS and the web at fasttrackapp.biz. Built by FastTrack Rides, Inc.

## What is FastTrack?

FastTrack is a GPS-based acceleration timer app for iOS that measures vehicle performance using your iPhone's built-in GPS and accelerometer. It tracks 0-60 mph, 0-100 mph, quarter-mile, and half-mile times with ±0.05–0.1 second precision — comparable to dedicated timing devices like Dragy and RaceBox.

Beyond timing, FastTrack is a complete car enthusiast platform with a vehicle garage for tracking modifications, a peer-to-peer parts marketplace, social community feed, vehicle groups, direct messaging, global leaderboards, and real-time multiplayer drive sessions.

FastTrack is completely free to download and use. All features — timing, garage, community, leaderboards, groups, and messaging — are included at no cost.

## GPS Timing Accuracy

### How does FastTrack compare to Dragy and RaceBox?

FastTrack uses the iPhone's 100Hz accelerometer with 3D gravity calibration for launch detection (approximately 30ms response time), combined with GPS Doppler-derived speed and linear interpolation — the same techniques used by dedicated timing devices.

For 0-60 mph times, FastTrack achieves accuracy within 0.05 to 0.1 seconds of dedicated devices. FastTrack actually detects launch faster than the standard Dragy, which lacks an accelerometer and relies on GPS speed alone (approximately 100ms latency).

Where dedicated devices maintain an advantage is in run-to-run consistency and distance-based metrics like quarter-mile timing, due to their purpose-tuned antennas and roof-mounted placement.

#### Timing Methods

FastTrack implements several professional-grade timing techniques:
- 100Hz accelerometer launch detection with 3D gravity vector calibration
- 300ms settle period after launch detection to prevent false triggers from button taps
- GPS timestamps for milestone recording (not wall-clock time), eliminating processing lag
- Linear interpolation between GPS samples to pinpoint threshold crossings with sub-sample precision
- Doppler-derived speed from GPS rather than position differentiation
- Exponential moving average smoothing to reject GPS noise while maintaining responsiveness
- Accuracy-gated recording that rejects poor GPS points during active runs
- Jump detection that discards impossible position changes from GPS glitches

### What timing modes are available?

FastTrack offers four driving modes:

**Acceleration Mode** — For focused single runs (0-60, 0-100, quarter-mile, half-mile, top speed, custom speed ranges). The timer starts automatically when acceleration is detected and stops at the target milestone. No button press required.

**Drive Mode** — Records full drives in the background, capturing route, top speed, and performance events throughout the session. Ideal for road trips and extended sessions.

**Rolling Mode** — Rolling-start speed tests from 60 mph and up. GPS auto-detects threshold crossing. Tracks 60-130, 60-100, 100-150, plus granular 10 mph splits and peak G-force.

**Drive with Friends (Multiplayer)** — Real-time multiplayer sessions with join codes. Four sub-modes: Cruise, Race, Rolling, and Open. Live GPS tracking, leaderboard, and podium rankings.

### Do I need extra hardware?

No. FastTrack runs entirely on the iPhone's built-in GPS and accelerometer. No external devices, OBD adapters, or Bluetooth accessories are required. A phone mount is recommended for safety.

### Best Practices for Timing

Getting the most accurate times from FastTrack comes down to optimizing your GPS signal:

- Place your phone on the dashboard or windshield mount with a clear view of the sky
- Wait for high GPS accuracy before starting. FastTrack's accuracy indicator shows when conditions are good
- Run on flat, straight roads for the most comparable results to published times
- Do multiple runs and use your best consistent time (standard practice even with dedicated devices)
- Avoid urban canyons where tall buildings cause GPS multipath errors

## Vehicle Garage

### What can I track in my garage?

The garage stores complete vehicle profiles including year, make, model, and trim for every car in your collection. Each vehicle gets its own profile with run history and modification log.

### How does mod tracking work?

FastTrack tracks modifications across 10 categories with 75+ modification types:
- Engine
- Forced Induction
- Fuel & Ignition
- Cooling
- Drivetrain
- Suspension & Chassis
- Wheels, Tires & Brakes
- Aero & Exterior
- Interior & Weight
- Electronics

Each modification is logged with a date and notes, so you can compare run history before and after upgrades to measure the exact performance impact of each change.

### How many vehicles can I add?

There is no limit. Add as many vehicles as you want and switch between them before any run with a single tap.

### Performance Tracking

Before-and-after timing data is automatically correlated with your mod list. When you log a modification and then record a run, that run is tagged with your current garage configuration. This lets you measure the exact real-world performance impact of each upgrade.

## Parts Marketplace

### What is the FastTrack Marketplace?

The FastTrack Marketplace is a peer-to-peer auto parts marketplace built into the platform. Users can list parts for sale, post Want to Buy (WTB) requests, browse listings from other enthusiasts, and make offers — all with secure Stripe payment processing.

### What are the fees?

FastTrack has the lowest fees of any auto parts marketplace:
- Buyer fee: 3%
- Seller fee: 6%
- Stripe processing fee: split 50/50 between buyer and seller

For comparison, eBay charges sellers up to 13.25% + $0.30 per sale, and Facebook Marketplace charges sellers 10% or a flat $1.

### How do offers work?

Buyers can send offers on any listing with an optional message. Sellers can accept, decline, or counter. Up to 5 rounds of negotiation are allowed, with a 48-hour expiry on each offer.

### What payment methods are supported?

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Sellers set up a Stripe Connect account and receive payouts directly to their bank. Funds are held for 3 days after delivery confirmation before payout.

### Vehicle-Matched Search

The "Fits My Vehicle" filter instantly shows listings that match the cars in your garage. Search by make, model, year, category, condition, and price range. Save searches and bookmark listings for later.

### Seller Profiles & Reviews

Every seller has a public profile with their rating, review count, and active listings. Leave reviews after completed purchases to help the community. Verified badges for trusted sellers.

### Shipping & Local Pickup

Sellers choose shipping, local pickup, or both. Buyers get tracking numbers and carrier info for shipped items. Confirm receipt when your part arrives, or confirm handoff for local pickups.

### Want to Buy Posts

Post what you're looking for and let sellers know they have interested buyers. Great for hard-to-find pieces and discontinued parts. Sellers can respond with offers on WTB posts.

## Community Features

### What can I share on the social feed?

Share any completed acceleration run or drive session to the community feed. Posts include your tagged vehicle, GPS-verified timing data, and optional photos or videos (up to 7 media items, videos up to 15 seconds).
